Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I’m glad to be back home after several months of a very difficult legislative session in Olympia. As you have probably heard, taxes were raised by nearly $800 million as a way to close a $2.8 billion budget deficit. I voted NO against the tax increases and have strongly felt we could have balanced the budget without taking more money from families who are already struggling in this economy.
I recently joined up with my seatmate, Rep. Maureen Walsh, to co-author a newsletter report of the legislative session. We mailed the 2010 Session Report to households throughout the 16th District. As an e-mail subscriber, I wanted to make sure you receive a copy, so I have attached it to this e-mail. It provides details on the tax increases, the budget and other important issues of this past session. The report is in a PDF format, which most computers can read. However, if your computer will not open the attachment (it is a safe attachment), you may download the free Adobe reader at: http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO, or call my office and I will be glad to mail a copy to you.
Due to election year restrictions, this will be my last e-mail update to you until November. I still work for you throughout the year, so I encourage you to call my office any time you have questions, comments or suggestions about state government or legislation.
I am maintaining two offices along with Rep. Walsh, so that we can best serve the entire 16th Legislative District. Here are the addresses:
26 East Main St.
Phone: (509) 526-6284
2815 St. Andrews Loop
(next to the Red Lion Hotel near the Tri-Cities airport)
You’re also welcome to e-mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
It is an honor to serve you!
