Reps. Terry Nealey, Maureen Walsh seek citizen input through Jan. 19 telephone town hall

Now that the state Legislature has convened for a scheduled 60-day session in Olympia, 16th District Reps. Terry Nealey and Maureen Walsh are holding a telephone town hall meeting, Jan. 19, to talk with local citizens about issues and concerns. The hour-long community conversation begins at 6 p.m., and the dial-in number is (509) 885-9012.

“One of the most important jobs of a legislator is communicating with and listening to the people we represent,” said Rep. Terry Nealey, R-Dayton.  “This is a convenient way for people to participate in the legislative process from the comfort of their homes.”

The format is much like a radio talk show. During the call, participants can ask questions, participate in poll questions or simply listen in to the conversation as Nealey and Walsh discuss issues of the 2016 legislative session. Once connected, anyone can ask a question by pressing the * (STAR) key on their telephones.
“These community conversations are so important as we seek to stay in touch with our constituents during session,” said Walsh, R-Walla Walla.  “They are a great way to hear folk's ideas and concerns as we all work on solutions to better our state.”

The legislative session began Jan. 11 and is scheduled to continue until March 10.
